Dragons and other artwork by Candra Hope

Dragons are monsters. The legends tell us they should be feared and respected. According to some they are guardians of doors to other worlds. To others they are thieves and murderers who plunder treasure like greedy Magpies. In some cultures they are considered to be either bringers of bad luck and bad weather or representations of good luck. In the East it is considered lucky to be born in the year of the Dragon. But whatever the legends say, one thing is always clear. Dragons are not pretty or gentle. They are not friendly. They are unpredictable and utterly terrifying.

Using mainly acrylic paint on canvas and her own Dragon design, the artist Candra Hope has created images that will stay with you. Working in self imposed isolation, she considers it her mission to breathe life into her particular breed of monster.
